Staff of the Parking Control Section enforce the parking by-law provisions on public and private property including fire routes and disabled parking spaces.
24-Hour Temporary Parking Permits
Residents and their guests may now purchase and obtain a 24-Hour Temporary Parking Permit online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This new online option is part of Richmond Hill’s commitment to provide easy access to our services.
The cost of a temporary parking permit is $5 plus HST per licence plate. Each 24-Hour Temporary Parking Permit is valid from 7 a.m. to 6:59 a.m. the following day. For full details and to purchase a permit online, please visit the link below.

Between June and October, residents can obtain free temporary parking permits (maximum three cars) for up to five days per year. The permits must be obtained in person at Richmond Hill’s main Municipal Offices (225 East Beaver Creek Road, 3rd floor, Parking Control) during regular business hours, Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Please note that applicants must present proof of address.
Purchase a Temporary Parking Permit Online

Parking Restrictions
Residents are reminded of the following parking restrictions among others:
- Park in a disabled parking space without a permit
Fine: $300
Note: In accordance with the "Ontarians With Disabilities Act" - Park in a Fire Route
Fine: $150
Note: Signs are required. - Park within 3 metres of a fire hydrant
Fine: $50
Note: No signs are required. - Park on any street between the hours of 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. (December 1 - March 31)
Fine: $75
Note: Information signs are posted at all boundary road entry points advising of these regulations. - Park on any street between the hours of 3 a.m to 6 a.m. (April 1 to November 30)
Fine: $30
Note: Information signs are posted at all boundary road entry points advising of these regulations. - Park in excess of 3 hours
Fine: $30
Note: Information signs are posted at all boundary road entry points advising of these regulations. - Park on boulevard
Fine: $30
Note: Boulevard means the area between the travelled portion of the roadway and the property line, but does not include the apron of a driveway. - Park interfere with snow removal
Fine: $75
*Vehicles may also be towed if parked on any street during a snow event
Note: When there is a snowfall and the plows are operating, it is expected that drivers of vehicles will take notice - no signs are required. - Obstructing Sidewalk
Fine: $30
Note: Any portion of the vehicle that is overhanging the sidewalk or obstructs the use of the sidewalk in any way. - Park in a Prohibited Area ( No Parking Anytime, No Stopping Anytime)
Fine: $40
Note: Signs required.
